3Pick Beats Auckland Marathon Registration Queues

It's an age old issue for larger sporting events. Bib numbers are neatly packed into boxes, race packs are ready and long lines of timing chips are patiently hanging on their stands, waiting for athlete pick-up to commence. Half an hour later … bedlam! The room is filled with impatient athletes eager to get through registration in the shortest possible time, whilst harried volunteers - matching bib numbers to timing chips - start reading 3s as 6s and 0s as 9s.

Timing Sports have seen the inside of many a registration tent and we figured this could be done better. At the 2008 Auckland Marathon, Timing Sports rolled out Bib/Chip Pack and Corporate Pick & Pack (see below) to achieve what was widely acknowledged by race organisers and athletes alike as "the smoothest rego yet".

Introducing 3Pick
3Pick is Timing Sports' bib and chip packing solution. It works on three levels - hence the name - some of which are more appropriate for larger scale events and those with a high level of corporate entries:

• Bib/Chip Pack
  This service is available for events of any size (contact us for pricing information). The competitor bib number (or helmet sticker / bike plate for cycling events) is placed inside a zip-lock plastic bag with the timing chip. Bags are then cable-tied together in bunches of 50 and placed into attractive presentation boxes of 100 or 200 packs per box. When registration opens, the box lid is folded back to provide easy access to race packs (see photo). Snip off the zip lock ties and you are ready to roll!
  
  
   
• Corporate Pick & Pack (Event Director customers only)
  For events of 10,000 competitors or more and corporate teams of at least 20 competitors, we can separately pack (note: Event Director customers only as manage bib numbering on your behalf to make this work) and box all of the bib numbers and timing chips for corporate teams. This means your most valued customers can have a one-stop registration or, even better, have all of their race packs couriered direct to their office.
   
• Hands Free Pack (Event Director customers only)
  For events of 10,000 competitors or more, we can offer a complete fulfilment package where we place bib number, timing chip and other paper based items (there is a charge per additional item) into a postage-ready enclosure and post it direct to the individual entrant. To save on postage costs, this option can be combined with Corporate Pick & Pack
