into 2009, but the Sun-Herald City2Surf in Sydney once again stands

In addition to the new equipment deployed in the event, the 2009 City2Surf became the largest event ever timed with custom IPICO tags. Weary runners crossing the finish line in Bondi were spared the pain of bending down to remove their timing transponder and queueing through transponder collection gates. Instead, far more space was available in front of the Bondi Pavilion for runners to collect their finisher's medal and recover in relative comfort. The congestion of the chip recovery area from 2008 was a distant memory. Even with over half a million tag times in the bag, Timing Sports still had plenty of work to do. Within an hour of the final finisher, hundreds of race day changes had been processed and the final results had been released to event owner, Fairfax, for publication in the Tuesday edition of the Sun-Herald. Thanks to Timing Sports, there was no need to "hold the presses". Work then began preparing Internet servers for the deluge of traffic to the official results, released on the Wednesday after the event. These results were presented in a new, fast, fun and interactive way thanks to a partnership between City2Surf and eventdirector, the acclaimed athlete management solution supplied by Timing Sports' parent company, Keep Left. "The City2Surf is a benchmark event in electronic timing," said Timing Sports' Rob Docherty. "These are the days you measure yourself against because you absolutely must deliver, there are no second chances. Between ourselves and our partners at Times7 Sport and The Timing Guys, we delivered. This was a great day for our company."
